Getting Closer to Finishing

I only need seven more blocks before I can start putting together my blue and yellow sampler quilt. I finished two blocks this week. Both are patterns found on Quilter's Cache.

This is "Weathervane":

And this is "Wagon Tracks":

BTW, the theme of the quilt is "Conestoga Journey". I'm trying to choose blocks that fit in with the theme, but some that I have chosen don't fit in but I like them anyway! I'm not using period fabrics either. The colors weren't bright enough.

Too Much Blue's Clues?

Yesterday was a purple cat, and now today I'm inclined to make this little doggie blue. Perhaps it is the "Blue's Clues Effect" that comes from years of ingesting children's programming. Do I see a purple dinosaur in my future? Oh no, anything but that!

The doggie stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms, the sentiment from Rubbernecker and the faux stitching from Starving Artistamps.

Purple Kitty

OK, now you'll figure out just how crazy I am when I tell you that I think it's the cutest thing ever to color a cat purple! The stamps are from Cornish Heritage Farm and I used my colored pencils to give the kitty his special color. This is the first time that I used my Fiskars Corner Edgers that my friend Wendi gave me. So cool!

The next question is, what color should I choose for the dog stamp?

Wistful Dreams Winner!

The answer to yesterday's question "How many balloons is Freckles holding?" is 2! According to Belinda, the creator of Freckles, there are 3 strings but one of them is going behind Freckles' hand, so he is holding 1 string in his hand and sitting on the other. I had all kinds of answers but no one guessed 2. So all of you that posted an answer yesterday were entered in the drawing. There were 16 entries and a random number generator gave me the number 4. The fourth post that I received was from:
dopey423

Congratulations! Please contact me to receive your Wistful Dreams set. And thank you very much to all that participated and visited yesterday.

Recycled ATCs

I made three more recycled ATCs this weekend. On all three the background paper was taken from something that would have been discarded. In this case it was a Cincinnati Bell phone book. These are so fun to make!

Cute card and Recycled ATC

My friend Linsey sent a RAK that I received yesterday. It included this adorable card that she created using the Sweet Peach Garden set from Clear Artistic Stamps. Thanks Linsey! If you haven't had a chance to check out Linsey's blog, be sure to take a look. She is one creative lady.

Now, this is the first ATC that I made in response to a challenge on a Yahoo Group. We are supposed to use junk mail or anything else that will be thrown away to make a background for an ATC. I used a crafter's catalog for this background paper. I stamped the sentiment and butterfly from the Country Life set from CAS. The stones are from Heidi Swapp.

Easter Breakfast

I had fun taking the photos for this page. At our church, the guys prepare breakfast for everyone on Easter morning. It always turns out delicious, but you can really tell who is comfortable in the kitchen and who is not. The cardstock for this page is from Stampin Up and from Prism. I love the prismatics packs cardstocks. The color coordination is all done for you and the quality is topnotch.

Another painted grungeboard card!

I tried the acrylic paint by Heidi Swapp on the grungeboard this time, and it worked great! I stamped with regular dye ink for the sentiment, and on the flowers I stamped in red and embossed with clear powder. I don't remember the supplier of the embellishments. The paper is from 7 gypsies and the cardstock is from Prism. The stamps are from the Whispers of Dreams set.

Spring Palette

This is a card made with the April palette that you can find on the Clear Artistic Stamps website. I stamped the image with versamark and dabbed with pastel chalks. I love that technique for a soft look. The stamps are from the Whispers of Dreams set.

Crackle Paint!

I haven't been feeling very creative lately--just have the blaahs, you know. So I needed something fun to break me out of my funk. And what could be more fun than Distress Crackle Paint? I used the color "worn lipstick" on the grungeboard heart that I put on my new card. Then stamped on top of the crackle paint with Stazon ink in timber brown. The stamps are from the Whispers of Dreams set from Clear Artistic stamps. It's still available on backorder for those who missed the initial sale.

Also available on the Clear Artistic Stamps site is a special offer for a great price. For $12.95 you will get the Tiny Button Baby stamp set along with a gift book. That's a great bargain for everything you need to make a wonderful memory book for a new Mom.

Happy Birthday Mom

Here's my Mom's birthday card. I turned her into a cat lover when I was a teenager so I think she will like the stamp that I got from Starving Artistamps, made by Red Castle Inc. I got the designer paper from the Current Catalog, made by Times to Cherish. Everything else is from SU.

Quilted Placemats

Here is one of the four placemats that I'm making for my Mom's birthday. She turns 81 tomorrow! She has sort of been hinting around for placemats so I got some fabric in one of her favorite colors (purple) for this simple pattern.
