Candy for Nana

OK, so how am I supposed to avoid all of this Easter candy? There is absolutely no point in trying! I saw these coconut chocolate eggs at the store today and grabbed one for my Mom (she loves 'em). I made a quick wrapper by taking white cardstock and spritzing with Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Meadow green, giving it a great speckled egg look. I folded it around the candy and taped it shut with Prima transparent scrapbooking tape that has a cute green vine design. Then I stamped, colored and cut out the bunny and attached. (Hop into Spring set from Clear Artistic Stamps--on sale right now by the way) Finally I tied a few ribbon scraps around it to make it pretty.

Isn't this a fast and cute little gift for someone? Maybe drop one in a neighbors mailbox or leave one on a coworkers desk.

Freckles Bearthday Pocket Card

Here's a little birthday gift card with a pocket to put it in! I made the pocket by folding two pieces of DCWV patterned paper and attaching a paper flower. I then made a simple folded card with cardstock and ink from SU. The stamps are Freckles Bearthday from Clear Artistic Stamps.

Speaking of which, thanks to all who left comments on the Clear Artistic Stamps design team announcement last Monday. Congrats to Brenda H. who won the prize package! Now stay tuned everyone because this coming Monday Belinda will have news about the new guest designers. You won't want to miss it!

Erin's Collage

Looking for the Clear Artistic Stamps contest? Check out the previous post right below this one.

But before you do, indulge a proud Mom for a moment. My Erin caught me stamping one evening after her little sister went to bed and decided to sit and play along. She made this collage using the Clear Artistic Stamp set Hop into Spring and the Stampin Up set Infinite Goodness. She did a great job with her colored pencils. Look out world, here she comes!

Ready or Not, Here I Come!

The day has finally arrived for my big announcement! Drumroll, please......

Belinda Landtroop has invited me to become a member of her design team for Clear Artistic Stamps. I'm so excited! For the next year I will get to use her great stamps to make all kinds of cards and other projects for you all. I am joining the other design team members: Etha, Wendi, Gwen and Linsey. We will do our best to inspire your stamping fun. We will also have guest designers that will be named soon.

And now (this just keeps getting better!) here's a great opportunity for you to win some cool stamping supplies. Belinda has arranged a game for you to play to have your name entered in a drawing to win the prizes. All that you need to do is visit the blogs of each of the five design team members. (links are shown in the paragraph above) Search each blog for a word that is highlighted in RED. Collect all five words to make a familiar saying. Then post the saying in a comment on Etha's blog. If you have it right, your name will be entered in the drawing. The entry deadline is February 28. The winner will be announced on Friday, February 29.

Now, you say, what is the prize? You will receive everything in the photo here.

The prize package consists of a pink, hardbound gift book (perfect for altering!), the In a Peaceful Glade special edition stamp set from Clear Artistic Stamps and Ancient Page Ink Pads (I love the size and shape of these little babies!) And you, yes you could win all this great stuff. So what are you waiting for? You may be the big winner! Have fun playing!

Bunny ATC

I'm not sure if you can see it on the photo, but I used the "faux silk" technique for the background of this ATC. I stamped onto tissue and then glued it down and left it a little wrinkly. I stamped the backgrounder again with a glue pad and adhered glitter (some of which is now glued to my scanner!) I stamped the bunny on white cardstock and colored with Pebbles chalks. Then stamped the sentiment and inked the edges. The backgrounder is Swirls and Curls by Stampabilities. The bunny and sentiment are from the Hop Into Spring set from Clear Artistic Stamps.

Boy am I ready for Easter to be here. I'm happy that it is in March this year! I have a lot of creating to do this spring. First Easter things in March, then my Mom's birthday is in April and finally my oldest daughter has her
birthday in May. She's having a slumber party so that should be "interesting". Decorating will be fun since she wants a disco party, and I just happen to be old enough to remember the disco era very well. (sigh)

Special Announcement

Hi Friends,

Be sure to keep an eye on my blog for the next few days. Why? I will make a special announcement that I think you will be interested in. OK, I guess it's really more about me than you, but you get the idea.

See ya!

BBC day in pictures

Have you noticed that I put a link to the BBC on the upper right corner of my blog? I love looking at the day in pictures that they publish, as well as other collections of photos. Not only do I get to see photos of current events and culture from all over the world, but the pics are always very well done.
Have you ever taken inspiration from a photo to make a card or scrapbook page? (or anything else for that matter). These photos would be a great place to start.

Another Flowers Card

I made another card with the Hop Into Spring stamp set from Clear Artistic Stamps. This time I stuck to a limited green palette, as suggested by Belinda. I think this card is masculine enough for a guy even though it has flowers on it.

Flannel Quilt and Blanket

Here is the latest FINISHED sewing project! First, you need to know that this is very, very late (sigh) as the baby was born last fall. But I think he will still be able to use it in the cool spring months to come. I just love making these flannel quilts. They are so soft and warm, and there are so many cute flannels at JoAnn's to choose from. This one is green and white "baby bugs"--just perfect for a little boy. And wasn't I surprised when I looked in the remnant bin and saw a piece of green fleece that was almost the very same color and theme! I snagged it and decided to make a big pillow for little Mason when he gets a bit older.
The purple and white flannel blanket is Disney princess fabric and is intended for big sister Sydney. I made it from a kit and you can't see it in the photo but the seams are chenilled by clipping them and throwing the blanket in the dryer.
I plan to see the family in a few weeks and I can't wait to see their reaction! Handmade gifts are fun to make and even more fun to give.

"Keep Your Own" Blocks

Here are the latest two blocks for my "Keep Your Own" Block of the Month Quilt from my quilting group. The first one is "Album Variation" and the second is "A Dandy". Both patterns are found at Quilterscache which has A LOT of great block patterns and photos of quilts. I have been working on this quilt, one block per month, since June 2007. I'm hoping to have it all pieced and quilted by the end of this summer. I chose blues and yellows with a white-on-white background fabric. I think it will be very bright and cheerful when completed.
